AIA NORTHWEST AND PACIFIC REGION DESIGN AWARDS
One of the most diverse regional chapters of the American Institute of Architects has recently announced its annual — also diverse — design awards. In traditions of the Northwest Style and of the Far East, these projects represent a respect for craft and sensitivity to their environment. One of these is the Columbia River Maritime Museum by Fletcher Farr Ayotte (photo by Michael Mathers). Next week we'll look at this and a few other honor award recipients.

PROJECT ARCHIVING IN THE DIGITAL AGE
How do you permanently store project documents after a building has been completed? It was much simpler 20 years ago when it was a matter of finding a safe place to shelve paper drawings or perhaps microfilm. In those days, storing was simple, but data retrieval was difficult. Today, we are inundated with so much data in so many formats, that, even though retrieval is theoretically easier, it can still be difficult to develop a truly useful project archive. Next week Evan Shu will offer his suggestions.
