NEW ART CENTER UPON TYNE
Joining other illustrious works in the British city of Newcastle upon Tyne, the former Baltic Flour Mills has been transformed into the International Gallery for Contemporary Arts. Striking forms crafted from industrial and space-age materials characterize the exterior while ingenious manipulations of daylight make the interiors ideal for both viewing and creating art. Next week, London writer and ArchitectureWeek contributing editor Don Barker will take us on a tour of the imposing structure.

CUSTOMIZING A PROJECT EXTRANET
Like many architecture firms, McCall Design Group puts a substantial amount of effort into sharing information with clients, consultants, and builders. This exchange can be difficult during phases when a design is changing rapidly. But unlike firms that use e-mail or off-the-shelf applications to handle these communications, McCall has developed its own project extranet system. Next week Davis Marques will describe their system and the platform on which it was built.
