    MILLER/HULL AIA FIRM OF THE YEAR

    The Seattle firm Miller/Hull Partnership has received the 2003 Architecture Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects. Announced in December, this award is given annually to a practice the AIA deems to have consistently produced distinguished architecture for at least 10 years.

    WTC DESIGN COMPETITION RESULTS

    On December 18, 2002, citizens and designers of the United States and the world got a glimpse of some new ideas on how the site of New York's World Trade Center could be transformed over the coming decade. On December 18, 2002, the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation released a new set of design proposals submitted by some of the world's most talented architects. Perhaps skittish after the poor reception given the last round of proposals, the LMDC simultaneously also launched a campaign to solicit public comment.

    RELIGIOUS DESIGN REWARDED

    Among the winners of this year's Religious Art & Architecture Awards are new buildings, sensitive additions, and renovations that impressed the jury with their sense of resourcefulness — making the most out of "found" space in existing buildings or saving an older facility from an ignoble end.
