Solution to Last Week's Puzzler
Architecture Puzzler #119
Question
Pratt, Fink, Warren, and Vierendeel might sound like the name of a law firm, but these are names of commonly designed trusses. Do you know which of these requires a moment connection between the web and chord members?
Answer
A Vierendeel is commonly called a truss but is more like a girder. It is similar to a Pratt truss but without diagonal members, and it has rigid connections between the web members and the top and bottom chords.
