Question
The most common unit of measurement for determining a font height is called a "point" (as in 18-point Helvetica). How long is a point? How high is 12-point type?
Answer
A "point" is 1/72 inch (0.35 millimeters), which would make 12 point about 1/6" (4.2 millimeters)high.
