    Question

    Over time some woods will darken or become "richer" looking, developing a "patina." Others will fade and lose their brilliance. Which of the following woods grow richer and which fade? Walnut, padouk, cherry, poplar, maple, mahogany, purple heart.

    Answer

    Cherry, maple, and mahogany tend to develop a rich patina over time. Walnut, poplar, purple heart, and padouk tend to fade.
