Classic Home 022
|
Exterior overview of Classic Home 022, designed by Frederick L. Ackerman, Architect.
"Here is a five-room house which may be built on a 40-foot (12-meter) lot, facing in any direction. The illustration shows 4-inch (130-millimeter) siding as the main exterior material, with shingled gables and roof, foundation of concrete blocks, and piers of brick. Besides the three windows with the flower box beneath them, there are two other windows in the living room. The inter-room opening makes the dining room and living room one large room, while also serving as bookcase. The combination sideboard and dresser is convenient."
From 500 Small Houses of the Twenties, complied by Henry Atterbury Smith, from "The Books of a Thousand Homes," copyright 1923. The 1990 edition is published by Dover Publications, ISBN 0-486-26300-2.
