    CALIFORNIA ARCHITECTURE AWARDS

    At the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles in June, the American Institute of Architects, California Council (AIACC) handed out its annual kudos to architects and allied professionals.

    Six honor awards and nine merit awards were presented to recent projects, celebrating design excellence among the state's practitioners. Some of these are described below.

    UK CELEBRATES ARCHITECTURE WEEK

    The month of June, 2001 saw the start of the fifth annual Architecture Week in the United Kingdom, an initiative supported and managed by the Arts Council of England in association with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and endorsed by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE).
