ARCHITECTURE EARTH DAY
It began over 30 years ago, as growing numbers became alarmed at the seemingly inevitable human-caused destruction of the planet. Since then, concerned citizens, scientists, politicians, and other professionals have gathered each April to celebrate "Earth Day" and to figure out ways to slow or reverse the damage.

HERZOG AND DE MEURON PRITZKER PRIZE
They have been friends since childhood, went to architecture school together, over 20 years ago formed a professional partnership, and on April 2, 2001 became the first team to win the Pritzker Prize together.
Architects Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron of Basel, Switzerland, have just received this most prestigious of architectural honors, considered the profession's Nobel Prize, for "significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture."

NAHB 2001 ATLANTA SHOWCASE
In February, 2001, nearly 73,000 construction professionals from 95 countries descended upon Atlanta, Georgia for what its organizers say is the world's largest construction industry trade show.
The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) 2001 International Builders Show also incorporated the International Commercial Construction Exposition (ICCON) and tecHOMExpo. On display for the event were thousands of building tools and products including electronic devices to automate twenty-first century houses.
