    Question

Art Nouveau is associated with what decades? How did the name originate?

    Answer

Art Nouveau is associated with the 1880s and 1890s. "Art Nouveau" was the name of a shop in Paris that sold objects of "modern style" as opposed to imitation period pieces. This movement away from imitation of the past started in book production and textiles in England in the 1880s.
